G20 Young Entrepreneurs’ Alliance 2025 South Africa Communiqué

The G20 Young Entrepreneurs’ Alliance (G20 YEA) is a powerful global network uniting more than half a million young business leaders and the organizations that champion them across all G20 nations. In September 2025, this alliance held its annual summit in Johannesburg, South Africa—drawing 388 official delegates from G20 nations such as Turkey, Italy, India, Mexico, Brazil, Japan, South Korea, and more, in a vibrant celebration of impact, inclusion, and global partnership.

Jagtar Singh, CEO and founder of The Green Clothing Company (TGCC), represented Canada as an official delegate at this milestone event, which marked the 15th anniversary of the G20 YEA’s pivotal work shaping policies for entrepreneurship and sustainable development worldwide.

What is the G20 Young Entrepreneurs’ Alliance?

The G20 YEA is a collective of young entrepreneur organizations spanning all G20 nations, united to drive economic growth, promote innovation, and foster social change through youth entrepreneurship. Each year, prior to the G20 Leaders’ Summit, the alliance brings together hundreds of outstanding young entrepreneurs to consult with policymakers, propose solutions to pressing challenges, and build international collaborations. The 2025 summit, themed “Together We Thrive,” embodied the urgency of cross-border cooperation and inclusive economic renewal in a world of growing economic and sustainability challenges.

The Canadian Delegation: Spotlight on TGCC’s Jagtar Singh

Jagtar Singh’s selection for the Canadian cohort followed a highly competitive process that prioritized diversity, industry impact, and vision for sustainability. The 42-member Canadian team—more than half led by women and over 80% representing visible minorities—represented a wide spectrum of sectors and regions. Jagtar brought The Green Clothing Company’s mission of driving sustainability for micro and SME companies directly to a summit known for shaping the direction of youth business policy, innovation, and global trade.

A 10-Day Journey of Impact, Learning, and Collaboration

The summit itinerary encompassed far more than keynote speeches and conference panels. Over ten days, Jagtar Singh and fellow delegates participated in a blend of high-level business functions, policy discussions, and cultural immersion activities:

  • Cultural Immersion: Early in the trip, visits to Johannesburg’s Soweto township provided unique insights into grassroots entrepreneurship, community resilience, and the enduring human spirit that shapes South African society. These experiences offered delegates a firsthand understanding of local challenges, the role of social enterprises, and creative solutions for equitable access to education and opportunity.

  • Official Meetings: Jagtar attended multiple roundtables with the Southern Africa-Canada Chamber of Commerce (SACANCHAM) and met with Canada’s High Commissioner to South Africa. These exchanges focused on improving bilateral business relations and identifying new trade and partnership pathways between Canadian and South African companies.

  • Bilateral Engagements: The summit facilitated B2B meetings between Canadian delegates and their counterparts from India, Mexico, and Saudi Arabia. Concrete discussions explored TGCC’s potential expansion into these growing markets, and several companies expressed intent to follow up with memorandums of understanding (MOUs) for future collaboration.

Influencing Policy: The G20 YEA Communiqué

One of the defining moments of the summit was the collaborative drafting and signing of the official Communiqué—a collective policy statement from all G20 YEA delegates. As an active member of the Canadian delegate task force, Jagtar Singh played a central role in shaping public policy recommendations for Canada. His contributions emphasized the urgent need for:

  • Accelerated, integrated sustainability standards across Canadian industries,
  • Targeted government support for SME transitions to greener business models,
  • Cross-border youth entrepreneurship support systems,
  • Policies to drive Canadian leadership in circular economy and green innovation.

Collaboration, Networks, and Real-World Outcomes

Beyond the formal agenda, the G20 YEA summit buzzed with dynamic workshops, fireside chats, group brainstorms, and industry visits. Jagtar engaged with Johannesburg-based entrepreneurs to co-create business ideas and discuss practical solutions for some of South Africa’s greatest challenges, including digital transformation, energy, and inclusive employment. These interactions sparked new alliances for TGCC within the non-profit sector, particularly in advancing the United Nations Sustainable Development goals across countries.

The Road Ahead: TGCC’s Global Vision

Jagtar Singh’s presence at the G20 YEA 2025 Summit reinforces TGCC’s growing influence as a Canadian leader in sustainable business solutions. Key takeaways and new partnerships from this summit will accelerate TGCC’s ambitions to empower more companies—both in Canada and globally—to adopt sustainable, circular approaches. The connections forged with international policymakers and market leaders ensure TGCC remains at the forefront of shaping a greener, more collaborative global economy.
